QB Vince Young agrees to terms with Bills

ORCHARD PARK, NY – The Buffalo Bills announced on Friday that free agent QB Vince Young has agreed to terms on a contract with the team. ESPN reports Young agreed to a 1-year deal that will pay him $2 million.



“We think adding Vince to our roster will create more competition for the backup quarterback position,” said Bills General Manager Buddy Nix. He brings with him some unique physical abilities that most are aware of and that will make the competition interesting. It’s all about improving our team.”



Young is in Texas for a charity event this weekend. He is expected to be in Buffalo no later then Monday morning.



Young released the following statement on Friday. "Thanks to Buddy Nix and Coach Gailey for giving me the opportunity to come in and play and compete. I am looking forward to playing with the guys and helping where i am needed. I have always respected the Bills organization and am looking forward to being a part of the team."



The announcement comes less then 24 hours after Young's agent told Eyewitness Sports Director Jeff Russo on Thursday that "Buffalo is still definitely an option". Young worked out for Bills officials last Wednesday.



Young, a two-time Pro Bowl selection following the 2006 and 2009 seasons, has completed 755-of-1,304 passes for 8,964 yards and 46 touchdowns and added 1,459 rushing yards on 282 attempts with 12 touchdowns in 60 games. He holds a 31-19 record in 50 career starts.



The 6-5, 232-pound Texas product was selected in the first-round (third overall) by Tennessee in 2006 and spent his first five NFL seasons with the Titans before signing with Philadelphia in 2011.
