Buffalo (WKBW) The countdown is on for the Buffalo Bills. The start of training camp is less then 3 weeks away and there is also this small bit of business to take care of with safety Jairus Byrd.
Byrd's agent Eugene Parker told Eyewitness Sports Director Jeff Russo in an email on Monday that there was "nothing new to report at this time" on negotiations of a new long term contract for the two-time pro-bowler.
Next Monday is the deadline for the Bills to finalize a multi-year extension with Byrd. Otherwise he can only sign a 1-year deal and not negotiate with the Bills again until after next season. The Bills used the teams franchise tag on Byrd back in March. He has yet to sign that 1-year 6.9 million dollar tender. Byrd did not participate in any of the Bills off season activities.
