BUFFALO, N.Y. - National Lacrosse League all-time points leader John Tavares re-signed with the Buffalo Bandits on Monday, agreeing to a one-year deal.
The three-time league MVP from Mississauga, Ont., enters his 15th season with Buffalo six goals away from breaking Gary Gait's all-time mark of 596. His 648 assists and 1,239 points are already NLL records.
Tavares has led the Bandits in scoring every season in franchise history except for 1992 and 1998.
"We are delighted to have John back in a Bandits uniform this season," said Dave Zygaj, the club's director of lacrosse operations. "His offensive skills speak for themselves and we'll continue to count on John for his veteran presence both on and off the field."
The 38-year-old led the NLL in assists (61) and game-winning goals (5) last season, while his 103 points ranked fourth.
