Columbus, OH (Bisons.com) - After two straight one-run victories against Columbus, the Bisons made sure the series finale wasn't as dramatic. The Herd downed the Clippers 12-8, Sunday evening from Huntington Park.
For the third game in a row, the Bisons tallied first. Nick Evans continued his impressive month of August from the plate, crushing a two-run home run in the first inning, putting Buffalo up 2-0. Evans now ranks second on the team in home runs, one behind Fernando Martinez.
The Bisons would continue the impressive offensive effort with a four-run third inning. Javier Castillo, Andy Green and Josh Peterson each drove in runs for Buffalo, giving the Herd the 6-0 advantage. Peterson's RBI single was his first run driven in at the Triple-A level in 2009.

Buffalo would blow the game open in the sixth. Mike Lamb laced a two-run RBI double to deep center, and Chip Ambres brought home another on an RBI double. With two outs, Robinson Cancel hit a three-run homer, his first of the year, making it 12-2 Buffalo. Cancel's bomb was part of a three-hit night for the catcher in his first game with the Herd since being called up by the New York Mets on July 30th.
Chuck Lofgren's start for Columbus was cut short due to an injury he suffered in the third inning. The southpaw registered 2.1 innings of work, giving up five runs on five hits, striking out two and walking one. The ex-Bisons pitcher is now winless in his past three starts since winning three straight decisions.
Starting pitcher Lance Broadway recorded the win for Buffalo. The righty tossed 6.2 innings giving up six runs on 10 hits, striking out one and walking one. It was Broadway's first win since July 25th when threw seven innings in a victory against Indianapolis.
Argenis Reyes didn't waste any time extending his season-long hitting streak to eight games, singling in his first at-bat on Sunday. With two more hits on Sunday, Reyes is now hitting .378 during the streak.
Mike Lamb continued his impressive play of late. The veteran has now hit in nine of his past eleven games, with six multi-hit performances in that stretch. Since July 29th, the third basemen has averaged .386 including six doubles, a home run and nine RBI.
Sunday's contest against Columbus marked the final game against an opponent outside the IL North division for Buffalo in 2009. The team finished with a 13-19 mark against the IL West, while compiling a 14-17 against IL South foes.
