COLUMBUS, OH (Bisons.com) - The Bisons had the long ball working against Columbus, using three home runs to take down the Clippers 4-3, Friday night from Huntington Park.
Mike Lamb sparked the scoring for the Herd when he blasted his fourth home run of the season in the second inning, putting Buffalo up 1-0. The veteran improved his batting average to .348 six games into the current eight-game road trip, including five RBI in that span.

After Mike Lamb singled with one out in the fourth, Chip Ambres sent a towering shot over the left field wall, putting the Herd up 3-0. Rene Rivera continued the power display for the Herd offense, crushing a solo home run the in the sixth.

Columbus would counter, however, when Wes Hodges hit a solo home run in the fourth, putting the Clippers on the board. The opposition would tally again in the bottom of the sixth, plating two more runs on RBI by Hodges and Stephen Head, cutting the Bisons lead to one.

Jim Ed Warden pitched a shutout inning of relief, and Jon Switzer pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his third save of the year.

Buffalo starting pitcher Kyle Snyder bounced back from a pair of disappointing outings, putting together his best start since being inserted into the starting rotation. The righty went five innings giving up only one run on three hits, walking two and striking out four in the winning effort.

Columbus southpaw Ryan Edell made his debut as a starter for the Clippers. The 26 year-old went six innings giving up four runs on seven hits and striking out five. Edell had made 3 relief appearances for the Clippers in 2009, posting a 6.91 ERA in those outings.

Taking the early advantage has been important for Buffalo all season. With Friday's win, the team improved its record to 30-22 when tallying first in a game.

The Herd has now evened the season series against Columbus at three games apiece. The teams split a four game series at Coca-Cola Field earlier this season.

The Bisons held the Clippers, the best hitting team in the IL to just six hits. Buffalo is now 29-18 when outhitting the opposition.

The Herd will take on the Clippers in the third game series Saturday night from Huntington Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
