Bisons Sneak One Out In Extra Innings

What could have been an extremely tough loss for the Bisons turned into another display of determination by Buffalo to get out of their early season funk.

The Herd pulled their record to within three games of the .500-mark with a 4-3, 10-inning victory over the Red Wings, Friday night from Frontier Field. The Bisons have now won nine of their last 12 games, six of which have come against divisional opponents.

This would've been a tough loss for Buffalo. The Bisons had a 3-0 lead in the eighth inning, but saw the Red Wings pull even with a late rally. The Herd then had the bases loaded and just one out in the ninth inning, but couldn't push across the game winning run.

Hope looked lost again in the 10th inning as Wings' reliever Tim Lahey retired the first two batters of the inning. But Jason Tyner kept the inning alive with a base hit up the middle, extending his hit streak to nine games. Brad Snyder then lined a double down the left field line and the speedy Tyner raced all around the bases to score the game-winning run.

There was no chance of Rochester re-tying the game. Closer Rick Bauer struck out a pair in a 1-2-3 bottom of the 10th for his seventh save of the season.

Michael Aubrey helped the Bisons build a 3-0 lead with his work throughout the game. The Triple-A rookie got the Herd on the board when he singled in Josh Barfield in the third inning. Aubrey then lined one back up the middle to cash in Barfield again in the fifth inning. The designated hitter doubled to lead off the eighth and came around on an Aaron Herr-single.

Rochester did all their damage in the eighth inning, scoring three runs off reliever Edward Mujica. Two of the runs were unearned.

Adam Miller pitched extremely well in just his fourth start of the year. The Indians #1 prospect blanked the Wings over five innings of work to lower his ERA to 2.04. Miller struck out four.

Rich Rundles (2-1) got the win for Buffalo. He held the Red Wings off the scoreboard in the bottom of the ninth inning.BISONS NOTES: Scott Elarton pitched a pair of shutout innings in relief...Michael Aubrey finished the game 3-4 with two RBI. He was intentionally walked in the top of the ninth inning...Jason Cooper was ejected after striking out looking in the ninth inning...Bronson Sardinha was a defensive replacement in the bottom of the 10th inning to make his Bisons debut. He played right field.
