Homers Lift Herd Past Pawtucket
The Herd hit four home runs and got another solid outing from Aaron Laffey, as they're back to winning ways, in the 7-0 shutout on the road against the Pawtucket Red Sox.
After going only 2-6 in their first homestand of the season, lively offense is exactly what the Bisons needed to get back in the swing of things, and they did so by making a statement. Josh Barfield hit two long-balls, along with homers coming from Brad Snyder and Jason Tyner. Snyder and Tyner's home runs were solo-shots, while Barfield also had a solo home run and added a two-run blast in the ninth inning. Snyder's fourbagger was his third of the year. He is now tied with Andy Gonzalez for leading the team in home runs. Also getting in on the offensive action for the Herd were Gonzalez and Jason Cooper, each picking up one RBI. Ben Francisco went two-for-four with two singles, and Jordan Brown also had a hit. Aaron Laffey had another solid outing, going five innings and striking out five, while only giving up three hits. Laffey is now 3-1 on the season. Chris Smith took the loss for Pawtucket. The Bisons also added relief from Scott Elarton, Rich Rundles, and Edward Mujica. BISON NOTES: Andy Gonzalez has reached base safely in the 13 games he's appeared in. Jason Tyner's home run was the third of his career. -herd- |
