Sammy Watkins finally hit the field and played in a game, but he wanted to stay in much longer than he did.

Watkins only played two series and was targeted just once against Washington.  Tyrod Taylor's pass fell incomplete as the Bills settled for a field goal to open up a 3-0 lead on Washington in the first quarter.

The third year receiver said after the game he wished he could have had more reps in the preseason, rather than just the one game.

Watkins added it's about preparing and practicing harder so he's ready for the opener against Baltimore.

"This was something that I wanted to do. I knew I needed to do it," he said.  "Things were moving a bit faster than in practice.  It was live and that's the type of reps that you need when you're coming off an injury and not playing as much."

He was a late scratch for Bills preseason win over the Giants in Week 2 of the preseason as he continued to work back from offseason foot surgery.

The Bills preseason finale is Thursday on the road against Detroit.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 on 7 ABC.
