ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) - The Buffalo Bills signed free agent
tight end Courtney Anderson on Monday to a two-year deal.
The 6-foot-6, 270-pound Anderson, who met with the team on
Wednesday, has started 28 of 43 career NFL games in the previous
four seasons, recording 62 career receptions for 763 yards and six
touchdowns. He played in four combined games last season without a
reception for Detroit and Atlanta.
"It's a great organization and a great coaching staff,"
Anderson said. "There are a lot of great players here. I just look
forward to coming in and working hard."
Anderson was originally drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the
seventh round in 2004 out of San Jose State.
"When he left Buffalo last week, he was certain he wanted to
sign with the Bills," agent Steve Baker said.
Anderson, 27, will be competing with holdover starter Robert
Royal, as the Bills reintroduce the tight end position this season
under new offensive coordinator Turk Schonert. Buffalo primarily
used their tight ends as H-backs in last year's 30th ranked attack.
