Pittsford (Jeff Russo/ The first skirmish of training camp highlighted the Bills first morning session here at St. John Fisher College on Friday.

Bills LB Aaron Maybin and Center Geoff Hangartner traded pleasantries about an hour into Friday's workout. The Bills were working in team drills when Aaron Maybin came in and laid a shoulder on running back Fred Jackson, knocking Jackson to the ground. Hangartner took exception and went after Maybin. A scrum ensued involving several players, but was quickly defused by coaches.

"He hit our starting running back in the back when he wasn't looking", said Hangartner. "I went over there and showed him (Maybin) that I didn't appreciate that, and wanted to let him know that I was going to stick up for our guys." Maybin said it's just part of the game "I'm never going to shy away from contact. If no one is willing to get the practice started, I'll start things off for us", said Maybin.

The Bills worked through the morning session in shoulder pads and helmets, but were missing a couple of players from action. Marcus Stroud did not participate this morning, no update was available from the coaching staff. LB Chris Kelsay also sat out. Kelsay left the opening practice on Thursday with an injury to his right shoulder. Chan Gailey said Kelsay was expected to miss some time, the veteran updated his status on Friday. "It feels alto better then I expected it to today. Just trying to rest it." When asked how long he expected to be out.. "It shouldn't be long, I wasn't given a time table, but the way it feels now it won't take long."

Paul Posluszny, Jon Corto and Nic Harris also sat out of Friday's morning session.

At quarterback Trent Edwards continued to take first team reps, with Brian Brohm running with the second team. Ryan Fitzpatrick and Levi Brown also saw some action in 7-on-7 drills.

The majority of teamwork was focused on the run game, but here are some unofficial passing statistics for 11-on-11 drills. Trent Edwards finished the day 3-6 and was intercepted once by Andra Davis. Edwards did much better in 7-on-7 drills.
Brian Brohm went 3-5 in 11-on-11 drills. Ryan Fitzpatrick completed all three of his passes. Levi Brown completed 1 of his 3 passes during the team sessions.

The Bills get back on the practice field Friday night for the teams first night practice here at St. John Fisher college. Fans need a ticket. All have been distributed.
