Stevie Johnson's Agent - No recent talks

January 10, 2012 Updated Jan 10, 2012 at 1:07 AM EDT

Buffalo (WKBW.com) Bills General Manager Buddy Nix said on Monday that the team had reestablished contract talks with top wide receiver Stevie Johnson, but Johnson's agent claims that's not the case.

Johnson's CJ Laboy told Eyewitness Sports Director Jeff Russo on Monday night that "There have been no talks with Buffalo regarding Stevie's contract since months ago when they made us their "final" offer."

Mark Gaughan of the Buffalo News first reported Laboy's stance.

Nix said on Monday afternoon that the team wanted Johnson, a free agent, back with the team in 2012. "He fits in. We do want him back", said Nix. "I know that you think about the antics, penalties and obviously we’re not happy about that. I don’t think Stevie is either, but we are around him a lot. I know the things he does in practice, he practices hurt – I think he’s a team guy. Yea, we want him back."

Nix went on to describe how contract talks have gone with Johnson.
"There were proposals made during the season. The last one we made their stance was we’d like for Stevie to concentrate on the season, finish out the year and then start the talks at the end of the year. And there has been dialogue since the season was over and they will continue."
