Pittsford (WKBW.com) The Bills released Aaron Schobel on Wednesday. Eyewitness Sports Director Jeff Russo caught up with Buddy Nix for a few questions prior to Wednesday's night practice at St. John Fisher College.

Nix said on Monday that the Bills were moving forward without Schobel, but that he would remain on the teams Reserve Did Not Report List until he made a decision on his future. Nix was asked what changed between Monday, and Schobel's release on Wednesday. "I think we obviously think about it a lot . We wanted to do what was best for us first, and then Aaron. To keep him from having to make a trip to Buffalo and walk in and say I'm ready to play, and then we say "you're released", we just cut all ties and released him, and now if he gets a chance to play somewhere else he's free to do that."

It's day seven at training camp and still no sign of rookie CJ Spiller. Russo asked Nix for an update on contract talks. "Everyone is working hard, trying to get something done. We feel like we are making a far offer, and they are making counter offers. Everyone thinks it's all very simple, but when you start getting into all that wording it does get a bit complicated. We are working hard at it, and we'll get it done.
