Bills release Maybin

August 15, 2011 Updated Aug 15, 2011 at 2:07 PM EDT

Pittsford (WKBW.com) The Buffalo Bills announced early Monday afternoon that the team has waived former first round draft pick Aaron Maybin. The move did not come as a surprise. The linebacker out of Penn State didn't come close to living up to expectations, and will now officially go down as one of the biggest draft busts in team history.

The 11th overall pick in the 2009 draft played in only 27 games during his career in Buffalo, but produced only 24 tackles and no sacks.

Maybin was drafted during the Dick Jauron era for his promise as a pass rusher, but was not effective at the NFL level.

Eyewitness Sports Director Jeff Russo is in Pittsford where the team is set to hit the field for a night practice on Monday. We will have the latest coming up at 5 and 6.
