TORONTO, ON (WKBW) - The Buffalo Bills defeated the Colts 34-21 Thursday night at the Rogers Center in Toronto. The following are quotes from after the game.

BUFFALO BILLS DEFENSIVE END MARCUS STROUD

On the importance of defensive turnovers:

That’s what we’ve been trying to preach the whole offseason, getting turnovers, and trying to turn and sway the game in our direction. A defensive turnover will do that and that’s what it did for us tonight.

On what tonight’s win means:

It means we have a lot of work to do. It means we’re definitely headed in the right direction but it’s a long journey.

On how much more comfortable he is in the 3-4 defense this week opposed to last week:

A lot more comfortable. Last week, I was like a fish out of water, so to speak. This week, I was a little more comfortable in what I was doing, I had more confidence in my play and it showed, it showed up on the tape.

On how it feels to get a defensive touchdown:

It feels good. It feels great. Like I said earlier, anytime you can get a turnover, especially if you turn it into a touchdown, it’s a big sway of momentum for us.

On what the team needs to work on from here:

It’s not one particular thing, we want to get better as a team. There were some things out there tonight that could’ve been better. Defensively, we have to make plays when we have the chance. Shore-up our tackling, shore-up catching the ball when guys are throwing it to us, just things of that sort. So we still have a lot of work to do, definitely.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS QUARTERBACK PEYTON MANNING

On his assessment of the game:

I think we will learn from the film. That is pretty true of every game I would say. Not the way we wanted to start, penalty on the kickoff and penalty on the first play of the game, and that is not what we talked about. That was a quick three and out, scored on the next series. We will see some things that we can build from and find some things that we need to correct.

On his interception:

Any time you are in the preseason you know you are only going to play a certain amount of plays and you would like to score every single time. It is kind of a sense of urgency and a unique situation because you know you are only going to play I think 18-20 plays and that is what it was today. So you want everything to go perfect while you are in there but that is not always the case, so I think you have to have those expectations.

On Colts RB Donald Brown’s running game:

Donald had a couple of nice runs. RB Joe (Addai) had a really nice run on the touchdown and I think that was important. That is your best red zone play right there if you can just hand it off and Joe can go the distance, so that was a good drive and then TE Jacob (Tamme) made a great play on the third down conversion for his touchdown.

On Toronto Argonauts WR Jermaine Copeland:

I saw Jermaine before the game and interviewed with someone in Toronto a few weeks ago about him. I have been really proud of his career here. He was a great teammate for me at Tennessee and I have been really proud of what he has done here in Toronto.

On changes from last season:

There have been some changes, some coaching changes, some players that are not here anymore, and we’ve added some players. There are always going to be some changes from season to season.

On his expectations for the season:

We certainly hope to be. We still have some work to do and that is what preseason is for. We work all the time to get better. That is what we talk about all of the time during the preseason; just trying to get better.

On the atmosphere of the stadium:

I thought it was good. I didn’t really know what to expect. I thought the fans seemed like they were having a good time. I don’t know what it compares to when the Bills play here for a regular season. Everyone seemed very nice.

Buffalo Bills OLB Chris Kelsay

On his first game-action as a linebacker:

Well, we spent a lot of time in our nickel package, so it was just like old times playing from the three-point, but it will be a transition, a new opportunity, and we have been working hard all training camp so I’m excited for it. It was just good to get back out there with my teammates and contribute to the win.

On playing against a great offense in the Colts:

They had a little hurry-up tempo and I thought we responded well to that, the first-team, with the exception of a couple plays here and there.

On if it feels good to get a win, even if it’s just preseason:

Absolutely, anytime you can win a game, whether it’s preseason or regular season, it’s always good, that’s the point of this game.

Bills CB Terrence McGee

On his interception return for a TD:

DB Drayton [Florence] made a great play on the ball, he was able to knock it up just enough for me to get my hands on it. At first, I wasn’t even going to get up and run, I just heard people telling me to get up and go. As soon as I got up, I thought somebody was going to tackle me, but they didn’t and my teammates made a nice little wall for me and I was able to bring it in.

On if he was doubting his speed when he made the interception (laughing):

Yes, I definitely was (laughter). At one point when I was running I saw QB Peyton [Manning] coming and I said ‘Oh my God, what if Peyton caught me,’ (laughing) but the guys were able to block him off and block everybody else off.

On if it’s fun to laugh during a post-game:

Yes, it is fun to laugh, so yes definitely.

Bills, ILB, Paul Posluszny

On how he felt in his first game back:

I definitely found out that I have a long way to go. I wasn’t comfortable with the way I played or the way I felt so it was good to out there and get some experience again, but it also made me realize that I have a lot of work to do before the regular season starts.

On what he specifically didn’t like about his game tonight:

There were a lot of things. I didn’t tackle well, this was the first live tackling I’ve done since we played Indy last year, and you could tell that I didn’t tackle well. Conditioning, I need to be able to run to the ball a little better, I wasn’t in game shape and that is something that will come with time. Those are the two main things.

On how the defense made plays tonight:

The turnovers were great, the guys up front played really well, they were stopping the run and putting pressure on the quarterback which is always huge for the back end. You get pressure on the quarterback; a lot of things will go in your favor. I think we took a good step forward compared to how we played last week. There’s definitely going to be some things we can still learn from, for sure, but I think we took a good step forward.

Bills, WR, Naaman Roosevelt

On how he is doing everything possible to make the 53-man roster:

Wherever they put me, I’m just trying to do the best that I can. I just want to make plays.

On how three UB players were in the game tonight:

It’s definitely good for the program, just to see that coming from UB, we’re able to make it, and it’s definitely good for the program. I know there is a lot more to come.

On Mike Newton having a tackle on him, if they had any words for each other:

A little bit, we were talking here and there, but it was all in fun. We were having fun out there and he made a great play too out there, so it was a lot of fun.
