Bills select Spiller with #9 pick

Orchard Park (WKBW.Com) It wasn't considered a top area of need, but new Bills General Manager Buddy Nix kicked off his draft era with the team by selecting the top all-purpose running back in this years class. The Bills selected Clemson running back C.J. Spiller with the 9th overall pick.

Spiller is considered a threat in the running, passing and return game. He finished his career at Clemson with 7588 all-purpose yards. He rushed for 1212 yards, and 12 touchdowns as a senior for the Tigers.

"He's a playmaker. A guy that creates field position, scores points. He's exciting. We need some excitement.", said Nix. "I'm excited about giving this guy to Chan Gailey, and seeing what he can do".

The addition of Spiller raises more questions about the future of running back Marshawn Lynch with the Bills. The former first round pick has not participated in the Bills voluntary off-season conditioning program. Nix was asked what now changes for Lynch, with the selection of Spiller. "Nothing. It doesn't change a thing. He's still ours. We expect him to be here"
