Who says Buffalo is a championship starved city?

Over the weekend Buffalo's NWHL club, the Beauts, secured the franchise's first title by defeating the Boston Pride 3-2 in the Isobel Cup Final.

"I think I speak for everyone in Buffalo that beating a Boston team is one of the best feelings ever," Nichols alum Jacquie Greco said.  "Beating a New England area team is pretty awesome."

Both Greco and teammate Emily Janiga are Western New York natives and graduates of Nichols high school. To bring the title home is a lifelong dream.

"It's an unbelievable experience and we're really fortunate and excited to bring this back to our hometown," Janiga said. "Our family is really excited and we've had such awesome support from our fans all season. To bring back the Cup for them is even better."

A year ago, the Beauts fell to the Pride in the title game. Their motto this season: "Unfinished Business."

"The veterans on the team kind of reminded us of how they had a bad taste in their mouth after losing to Boston," Greco.  "I think this whole year we were the underdogs and to come out on top at the end in really amazing."
