Bandits Top Shamrox - Playoff Hopes Still Alive
The Buffalo Bandits moved a step closer to the playoffs, defeating the Chicago Shamrox, 13-9, at HSBC Arena on Saturday. Mike Accursi scored a season-high four goals, while Mark Steenhuis matched his four-goal effort for the Bandits.
Chicago is mathematically eliminated from playoff contention with the loss. Ken Montour earned the win in goal with 40 saves, allowing just nine goals. Chicago scored the first three goals of the game before Accursi finally beat starting goaltender Matt Roik at 14:25 of the first quarter. Buffalo scored five straight, and 12 of the next 14 goals to grab a 12-5 lead in the fourth quarter. Jonas Derks, Josh Wasson and Bill McGlone scored two goals apiece to lead the Shamrox. Roik made 38 saves in the loss. Buffalo (9-6) hosts the Portland LumberJax next Saturday at HSBC Arena. Chicago (5-9) wraps up their season with a home-and-home series with the Minnesota Swarm next weekend, kicking off on Friday at Xcel Energy Center. |
