Vanek leads Sabres past Boston

Boston (WKBW) The Buffalo Sabres knocked the Boston Bruins down a few pegs, and snapped a four game losing skid in the process on Thursday night. You can thank Thomas Vanek.

The veteran winger put together the eighth hat-trick of his career, and had five points, in a 7-4 win over the Boston. It was the second time this season that Vanek produced a five point game. It was the Bruins first loss in regulation this season.

Tyler Ennis, Alex Sulzer, Cody Hodgson, and Jason Pominville also scored for the Sabres. Ryan Miller was solid in net with 38 saves. But it was Vanek who stole the show.

Vanek led the way with a pair of goals and an assist in the second period to help erase a 3-1 deficit. He then added a goal and an assist in the third to help the Sabres win for the first time in the last five games.

Brad Marchand scored twice for the Bruins. Rich Peverley also had a goal. The 3-3-1 Sabres are in Montreal on Saturday.
