Buffalo (WKBW) Buffalo Sabres General Manager Tim Murray spoke with reporters on Tuesday night about where things stand with the NHL trade deadline set for March 5th.
Many of the questions on Tuesday surrounded the future of goaltender Ryan Miller. Miller is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and Murray says he's looking to trade the netminder. "The route we are looking at is to get value for him. To put him in a position to succeed", said Murray on Tuesday night. "Our goal right now is to pursue a proper trade", Murray continued.
Murray says between 2 and 10 teams have shown interest in Miller and that trading the goaltender to a contender would not be a "disservice" to the veteran.
Miller said before the Olympics that he wanted to see what direction the Sabres were headed before making a decision on his future, but Murray believes he has a good sense of where things stand. "I know what I think his first choice would be and I don't think signing here is his first choice at his age with where we are at", said Murray.
