Buffalo (WKBW) Reports surfaced Thursday, and the Dallas Stars made it official on Friday morning. Lindy Ruff has been named the 22nd head coach in Stars franchise history. The former head coach of the Buffalo Sabreswas introduced at a news conference on Friday afternoon.

Ruff was fired by the Sabres in February in his 16th season with the franchise. He left with a record of 571-432-162.One of the biggest losses of Ruff's coaching career came at the hands of his new employer. The controversial "No Goal" loss to the Dallas Stars in the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals.

Ruff was asked about the irony early of now joining the Stars early in the news conference in Dallas. "How did I know that was going to be the first question", said Ruff with a laugh. "I said to Jim (Nill) I will meet with you, but we can't meet in the crease.", jested Ruff. "I had some great memories. I've gotten past that. I'm a coach, I want to coach. This is an unbelievable opportunity.", said Ruff. "I can tell you one thing. That same emotion and passion will be here in Dallas if a similar incident happens. That is the fire I have.", Ruff continued.
