CHICAGO, IL - (WKBW) The Sabres may have played their best period of the season during Saturday's third in Chicago. But the game ended like the previous five... without a win. The Blackhawks edged the Sabres 2-1 sending Buffalo to an 0-5-1 record.
Ben Smith opened the scoring in the first period with a deflection goal off a Brent Seabrook point shot.
South Buffalo native Pat Kane gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead with a power play goal in the second period.
Sabres winger Drew Stafford scored his first goal of the season in the third period.
Ryan Miller made 38 saves. Corey Crawford stopped 28 shots.
The Sabres next host former Buffalo captain Jason Pominville's Minnesota Wild on Monday.
