Sabres Continue Decline

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The Buffalo Sabres descent in the standings continued on Saturday night with a 4-0 home loss to the New York Islanders. Isles goalie Evgeni Nabokov made 35 saves for the shutout.

It was the Sabres second blanking of the season. Buffalo has now lost four straight games, two since Ron Rolston replaced Lindy Ruff as head coach.

The game was scoreless until late in the second period. Mark Streit and Michael Grabner scored 1:05 apart to give New York a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes.

John Tavares and Colin McDonald scored third period goals.

Ryan Miller made 28 saves.

The Sabres went 0-6 on the power play.

Buffalo next visits Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
