Buffalo (WKBW) Sabres President of Hockey Operations Pat LaFontaine appears to be focusing on Tim Murray as the teams next general manager
Discussed as a finalist on Monday, multiple reports on Tuesday night pointed to Murray as LaFontaine's top choice. TSN's Bob McKenzie is reporting that while no formal contract talks have taken place, Murray is expected to be named the Sabres next GM if the two sides can negotiate a deal.
The Sabres had nothing official on Tuesday night. An email sent from Eyewitness Sports Director Jeff Russo to LaFontaine for comment was not returned.
Murray, 50, is in his seventh season in Ottawa. He was named the Senators assistant general manager in 2007. Murray has been working in the NHL since 1993. He had stops with the Red Wings, Panthers, Ducks and Rangers.
