BUFFALO , NY (WKBW) - Former Buffalo Sabres forward Paul Cyr has died at the age of 48. The Victoria Times Colonist reports Cyr died of heart failure.
Cyr was drafted ninth overall by the Sabres in 1982. He played in Buffalo for six seasons from 1982-83 through 1987-88. While in a Sabres sweater Cyr scored 85 goals and111 assists in 342 games. He also spent 454 minutes in the penalty box.
Cyr finished his career with the New York Rangers and Hartford Whalers. He totaled 101 goals and 241 points in 470 NHL games.
