New York (WKBW) The Buffalo Sabres fell to 2-12-1 on the season on Thursday night but don't blame Ryan Miller. The Sabres goaltender made 44 saves in a 2-0 loss to the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
Another slow start hurt the Sabres. Buffalo was out shot 19 to 6 in the first period, 44 to 29 for the game. The Rangers opened the scoring on the power play. Derrick Brassard scored his second goal of the season on a wrist shot at 8:23 of the first. Chris Krieder scored his second goal of the season in the second period. Krieder bounced a rebound off the back of Ryan Miller and into the net at 11:21 of the second.
Henrik Lundqvist made 29 saves to earn the shutout for the Rangers.
