ORCHARD PARK, NY – The Buffalo Bills today announced that former tight end Pete Metzelaars has been hired as the team’s tight ends coach.
Metzelaars joins the Bills after spending the previous eight seasons on the Indianapolis Colts coaching staff. He spent the last two seasons as the team’s offensive line coach. In 2010, the Colts offensive line tied for an NFL-low 16 sacks in 695 pass attempts.
Metzelaars played tight end for the Bills from 1985 – 1994 and was named to the team’s 50th anniversary team in 2009. Metzelaars recorded the most receptions (302), receiving yards (2,921), touchdowns (25) and games played (156) by a tight end in Buffalo Bills history. He entered the NFL as a third round selection (82nd overall) of the Seattle Seahawks after playing college football at Wabash College. He played 16 seasons in the NFL. His 235 career NFL games rank as the third most of any tight end in league history.
