ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) - Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly took a break from his recovery from cancer treatments to make a surprise appearance at the Buffalo Bills' practice.
Kelly made his way to the sideline while players were stretching before the start of the final minicamp practice Thursday. Coach Doug Marrone gathered his team at mid-field before introducing Kelly, who addressed the players.
He thanked them for their support during his yearlong bout with jaw and sinus cancer. Kelly closed by urging the players to lead the Bills to the playoffs and end the team's 14-year postseason drought.
Kelly has spent the past two-plus weeks recovering at home after spending much of the spring in a hospital receiving radiation and chemotherapy treatments for sinus cancer.
