Doug Whaley "Leaving every option open" with Jairus Byrd

Indianapolis (WKBW) Bills General Manager Doug Whaley took some time to speak with the local reporters covering the scouting combine here in Indianapolis on Friday. The big topic was the status
of pending free agent safety Jairus Byrd.

Whaley says the team has not ruled out using the franchise tag once
again on the Pro Bowl safety. "In that situation you are going to leave
every option open", said Whaley. " We don't want to put ourselves in a corner. I don't want to say to you guys we are going to do this and have something change and we do something different. We as an organization are going to leave every option open with Jairus because we would like to have him back", continued Whaley.

Whaley says that he has had preliminary talks with Byrd's agent Eugene Parker and expects to meet with him here at the combine over the next couple of days. Likely on Saturday.
