D Mike Weber announces he's signed extension with Sabres
Buffalo (WKBW) Mike Weber has a new 3-year deal with the the Buffalo Sabres. The defenseman announced the extension via Twitter on Thursday night saying "Really excited to be staying in Buffalo for 3 more years #IsItOctoberYet #letgobuffalo ". Weber was scheduled to be a restricted free agent. A second round pick of the Sabres back in 2006, Weber played in 42 games last season and finished with a goal and 7 assists. Update: The Sabres have confirmed the new deal in the following release. "Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier today announced the team has signed defenseman Mike Weber to a multi-year contract extension. Weber (6'2”, 211 lbs., 12/16/87) appeared in 42 of the team's 48 games in 2012-13. He led the Sabres with 92 blocked shots and ranked second among all Sabres skaters with 122 hits and 70 penalty minutes. In parts of five NHL seasons, the Pittsburgh, Penn. native has appeared in 174 games for the Sabres, tallying 32 points (6+26) and 236 penalty minutes, with a plus-6 rating."
