BUFFALO (WKBW) It has been a long 35 year career for Canisius Softball Coach Mike Rappl, but on Monday, the only head coach in program history announced his retirement.

Rappl finishes his career with a record of 831-526-2, making him the winningest head coach in any sport in MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) history.

He was a 7 time MAAC Coach of the Year, winning 13 MAAC regular season championships, 12 MAAC Tournament titles, and 11 NCAA tournaments.

Canisius Athletic Director Bill Maher announced that assistant coach Kim Griffin will serve as the interim head coach for the 2014-15 season.
