BUFFALO, NY (UB Press Release) - Highlighted by a program-record seven home games and at least four nationally televised games, the University at Buffalo football team released its 2014 schedule on Friday.
"We are excited to have four games televised nationally on the ESPN family of networks," UB Athletic Director Danny White said. "This will give great exposure to not only our football program, but our world-class University."
The Bulls will open the 2014 campaign at home when they host Duquesne on August 30 at UB Stadium. UB will then play at Army on September 6. It will be the Bulls' first trip to West Point since the 2001 season.
UB will host defending Big 12 champ Baylor under the Friday night lights on September 12 in a game that will air on ESPN. It will be the first time in school history a home football game will air on ESPN. The Bulls will close out non-conference play against Norfolk State on September 20.
UB will open Mid-American Conference play on September 27 when it hosts Miami (OH). The last time the RedHawks came to UB Stadium, Patrick Clarke drilled a 45-yard field goal as time expired to give the Bulls a 27-24 win on November 3, 2012.
The Bulls will then hit the road for two straight games, beginning with an October 4th matchup at defending MAC Champion Bowling Green. The following Saturday, UB will travel to Eastern Michigan to face the Eagles.
Following a bye on October 18, UB returns home to host Central Michigan on October 25. It will be the first time head coach Jeff Quinn will face the Chippewas, a program he coached from 2004-06. The Central Michigan game will be the final Saturday game on the schedule as the Bulls have been selected for the MAC's weekday television package the rest of the way.
The Bulls will play a Wednesday night contest at Ohio on November 5. The game against the Bobcats will air on either ESPN2 or ESPNU.
The following Tuesday night, November 11, UB will host Akron on ESPN2 or ESPNU. It will be followed by a Wednesday night matchup against Kent State on November 19 that will air or either ESPN2 or ESPNU.
The Bulls will conclude the regular season at Massachusetts on Friday, November 28. The game will played on the UMass campus at the renovated McGuirk Stadium.
