MIAMI, FL (WKBW) - The defense of the Buffalo Bills came up big Sunday, forcing three turnovers and setting up former Dolphin's kicker Dan Carpenter for the game-winning field goal over his former team.
The Bills jumped out to an early lead on the first Miami possession. Rookie corner Nickell Robey jumped a Ryan Tannehill pass for a pick-six just 1:30 into the game.
Two possessions later, the Bills would take a 14-0 lead on a 3-yard touchdown run by Fred Jackson.
The lead would not last, as the Dolphins drive 62-yards to open the second quarter, capped off by a 7-yard pass from Tannehill to Charles Clay.
The Bills would add a field goal with under four minutes left in the half, but gave up a late touchdown drive to Miami in the final 30 seconds of the second quarter to make cut the Bills lead to 17-14.
After a three-and-out to start the third for the Bills, the Dolphins go 66-yards on 11 plays and Tannehill finds Brandon Gibson for their second touchdown connection of the day to put Miami up 21-17.
Buffalo would answer with a 20-yard field-goal to start the fourth, but found themselves down a point with under three minutes to go needing to stop the Dolphins at midfield.
On second-and-eight, Tannehill has the ball stripped by Mario Williams, the fumble is recovered by Kyle Williams inside the Miami 40-yard line.
The Buffalo offense was able to pick-up a first down and run the clock down to under 40 seconds to set-up the go-ahead kick from 31-yards out by former Dolphin Dan Carpenter.
Miami had a final chance as the clock expired on a hail mary which fell short.
