INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WKBW) - The Buffalo Bills start off the NFL preseason on the right foot with a win over the Colts in Indianapolis Sunday in a game where they managed to score a TD on offense, defense and special teams and set a new team record for points scored in a preseason game.
It was the NFL debut for 1st year Head Coach Doug Marrone and rookie QB EJ Manuel, ending in a 44-20 win over the Colts.
Despite getting off to a slow start, Manuel finished the day 16 for 21 for 107 yards and a TD. Manuel's only score came on a 92-yard, 1 minute 36 second drive capped-off by an 17-yard pass to Doren Dickerson in the end-zone.
Manuel also picked-up 28 yards on the ground, including a 24-yard scramble that would set-up a field goal.
Fellow rookie QB Jeff Tuel played the entire second half for the Bills going 19-23 for 212 yards and 2 TD's.
A total of 15 different Bills players caught a pass in the game.
Rookie receiver Marquise Goodwin also impressed on special teams with two big returns, including a 107-yard return for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter.
C.J. Spiller started off the game with two big runs, one for 17 yards and another for 15 yards. He finished the day with 4 rushes for 36 yards and a fumble.
Mike Pettine's new look attack defense forced 3 Colts turnovers, including 2 interceptions, one of which was returned for a TD. The Bills also tallied 2 sacks including one by Mario Williams.
