BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) The Buffalo Bills have responded to the removal of a post on the official team website today, which stated that head coach Doug Marrone is battling cancer.
Marrone has clarified on his condition, releasing the following statement:
"During a recent doctor's visit, it was discovered that I had a cancerous mole on my skin, which has since been removed. The only follow up required is to have my moles checked every 3 months and that basically is the end of the story. The recent extraction procedure will have no effect on my ability to coach the team moving forward."
The post referring to a cancer diagnosis for Marrone was taken down moments after Eyewitness Sports Director Jeff Russo called for comment. The apparently incomplete report included copy such as "Head Coach Doug Marrone announced today that he was diagnosed with BLANK TYPE OF CANCER [sic], and that it is highly treatable." The report ends in "QUOTE FROM MARRONE [sic]."
