Asprilla Suspended for 3 games

BUFFALO, N.Y. (Canisius Press Release) – The Canisius College Department of Athletics and the men’s basketball program announced today that senior center Freddy Asprilla will be withheld from the first three regular-season games of the 2012-13 season after a violation of team rules.

The team rules violation occurred during the 2011-12 season, but is being enforced at the start of this season because Asprilla was unable to play for the Golden Griffins last year after he transferred from Kansas State.

“Obviously, it is disappointing to not have Freddy for the first three games, but we hold our student-athletes to a high standard in our program,” Canisius head coach Jim Baron said. “Even though this violation of team rules happened last season, we are still enforcing the penalty. Since I arrived here at Canisius in April, Freddy has been working hard, and we look forward to getting him back into game action.”
