Buffalo (WKBW) The deadline is now just days away but it appears there continues to be little progress on the Jairus Byrd contract front with the Buffalo Bills.
Byrd's agent Eugene Parker told Eyewitness Sports Director Jeff Russo in an email on Thursday afternoon that there was "still nothing to report" on the status of negotiations. Parker also added "Nothing appears to be imminent at this time".
There is still time for the two sides to try and negotiate a contract extension for Byrd. The deadline to reach a multi-year deal for franchise players is next Monday July 15th. The Bills used the teams franchise tag on the Pro Bowl safety in March. He has yet to sign that 1-year $6.9 million dollar tender.
Byrd played all 16 games in 2012 and finished with 76 tackles and 5 interceptions. He was also named to his second career Pro Bowl. Byrd has stayed away from all of the Bills off-season activities. Report day for the Bills Training Camp in Rochester is set for Friday July 26th.
