Buffalo (WKBW.com) The agent for Christian Ehrhoff confirms to Eyewitness Sports that the Sabres defenseman is on his way back to Germany as he considers playing in the German League (DEL) during the NHL Lockout.
Rick Curran says that Ehrhoff is "disappointed that the (NHL) season can't start in Buffalo" and "wants to be ready to go when it finally does". Curran says that Ehrhoff sees the opportunity to play for his hometown Krefeld Penguins in Germany as a "viable and easy option to consider".
ESPN first reported that Ehrhoff was among several NHL players taking a look at playing overseas during the NHL lockout. The league imposed a lockout on Saturday after NHL owners and players were unable to come to an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement.
Ehrhoff led Sabres defensemen in points in 2011. He had 5 goals and 27 assists in 66 games for the Sabres last season.
