Bills Sign Davis

(Orchard Park) The Buffalo Bills added to their linebacking corps on Tuesday when the team signed veteran Andra Davis to a two-year contract.

Davis has been a productive linebacker during his 8 year career. He had 90 tackles and 3.5 sacks in his first season with the Denver Broncos last year, and his four years experience working in the 3-4 defense will help the Bills make the transistion this off-season.

Below are the Davis comments after he signed late this afternoon:

On how he feels about becoming a Bill:

I’m very excited and glad this process is over with. Now I can focus on getting my wife and my kids out here, finding a school, finding a place to stay, getting started and then working out with the guys.

On if he feels like his strength being a tough, physical linebacker and if that’s what the coaches were looking for in the new 3-4 scheme:

It’s one of my strengths, but I have experience and I have leadership so it’s other things that I bring to the table as well as my size and physicality. But I feel good, just ready to go.

On how big of a factor it was having previous experience with Bills Defensive Coordinator George Edwards:

It was huge, a huge factor. Not only do I know him, but he knows me. He knows what type of player I am. He coached me for a year in Cleveland. It goes both ways. Both of us guys have mutual respect for each other and we’re excited to work together again.

On if he’s still shocked by his release from the Denver Broncos:

I don’t question God’s moves. I’m a firm believer in God and whatever his plan is it is. I don’t question what happens when things happen, I don’t question that. I just try to think of the positive things and keep doing my best. I know I did my best in Denver and I can look at myself in the mirror and know I did my best, and that’s all that matters to me right now.

On if this is his fifth year playing in a 3-4 defense:

Yes, I’m going into my fifth year.

On if the contract was a two-year deal:

Yes, a two-year deal.

On what it means to him getting a second fresh start:

It means a lot. Like I said, I’m just excited to play with the guys. I know I have a lot left in my tank. I know I can still play this game. I love this game. And to be able to come here to another great organization with a lot of great tradition it feels good. I’m excited to meet the rest of the players. I’m excited for what Coach Gailey and all of the coaches have in store in so I’m excited about this whole process. I’m just ready to get started.

On if he thinks he and LB Paul Posluszny could start and LB Kawika Mitchell could play on the outside:

We don’t know who’s going to start. All we know is that we’re going to go out and compete with each other every day. Not only us three, but whoever else they’ve got here. We’re going to compete, we’re going to compete hard, and by us competing it’s going to make the whole squad better. So whoever the coaches see the most fit to go out there and start, that person will start. But I’m pretty sure that all of us are going to play and we’re going to go out there and give it our best.
