ORCHARD PARK, NY – The Buffalo Bills today announced the hiring of Eric Ciano and John Gamble as co-strength and conditioning coaches.

“We decided to bring in two head strength and conditioning coaches to let them specialize in the specific areas each coach works in and we feel like we’ve hired two unbelievable people to run that department for us. The combination of these two guys is going to pay real dividends for our team.” said Bills head coach Chan Gailey.

Ciano will enter his first season in the NFL after spending the previous five seasons as the Director of Player Development at Georgia Tech. In his previous role, Ciano oversaw the strength and conditioning for all of Georgia Tech’s athletic teams and worked primarily with the football team. Ciano worked with Head Coach Chan Gailey for three seasons at Georgia Tech.

“Eric Ciano came through the University of Tennessee system which is renowned for producing great coaches in the strength and conditioning area,” said Gailey. “He was our strength and conditioning coach at Georgia Tech and did an unbelievable job in getting our young men bigger, stronger, quicker and faster through the years.”

In addition to working with the Georgia Tech athletic program, Ciano has served as an associate strength and conditioning coach at Tennessee (2002-04) and head strength and conditioning coach at Louisiana Tech (2000-02).

Ciano graduated from Springfield College in 1997 where he lettered in football.

Gamble will enter his 17th season in the NFL after spending the past 16 seasons with the Miami Dolphins. For the first 12 years of his career in Miami, Gamble served as the team’s strength and conditioning coach. Gamble and Head Coach Chan Gailey worked together during the 2000 and 2001 seasons while Gailey was the team’s offensive coordinator. In 1998, he was named Coach of the Year by the Professional Strength Coaches Society.

“John Gamble has a wealth of experience at the NFL level,” said Gailey. “He’s a great leader of men as well as a great strength and conditioning coach. He gives us so much knowledge and background in gaining strength, mass and power and that’s what we’re really looking forward to having him bring to our program.”

For the past four seasons, Gamble served as Miami’s Director of Player Development. Gamble assisted players in the transition process both into and out of the NFL through continuing education, financial education and dealing with family matters through player programs.

Prior to joining the Dolphins, Gamble served as the head strength and conditioning coach at the University of Virginia from 1984-93. He was the assistant strength coach from 1982-83 and worked part-time at Virginia for one season in 1981. He was named 1985 Strength Coach of the Year by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Gamble graduated from Hampton University where he earned All-CIAA honors as a linebacker. Following his college career, Gamble developed into a world renowned powerlifter and ranked No. 1 in the world in the 275-pound weight class. Gamble was inducted into the U.S. Weightlifting Hall of Fame in York, Pa., in June of 1999.
