ROCHESTER, NY (WKBW) -- Buffalo State College will join Empire 8 football starting in 2012 as an affiliate member, joining in-state foes Ithaca, St. John Fisher, Alfred, Utica and Hartwick along with others.
Buffalo State will be leaving the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), which it joined in 2006.
Previously the Bengals participated in the Atlantic Central Football Conference (ACFC) from 2004-2005, and played as an independent from 1981-2003.
In eight seasons, the Empire 8 has recorded 20 post-season victories with five of the six current teams playing in at least one post-season game during that time.
The current Empire 8 teams have posted a 54-23 record against non-conference Division III opponents over the past three years.
