Bills fall to Houston 31-10

July 9, 2010 Updated Nov 2, 2009 at 12:26 AM EST Orchard Park - The Buffalo Bills head into their bye week at 3-and-5 following a disheartening 31-10 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday.

The Buffalo offense continued to struggle. The Bills produced only 204 yards of offense, and 9 first downs on the afternoon. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick started for a second straight week for the Bills and finished 15-of-23 for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Terrell Owens scored the only Buffalo touchdown on the day. Owens took the ball on an end-around 29 yards for his second touchdown of the season, to give the Bills a 7-nothing lead in the first quarter.

The Buffalo defense got off to another fast start. The unit produced three first quarter take aways, including two more interceptions by rookie Safety Jairus Byrd. Byrd now has seven interceptions on the season, but left the game in the second half with groin injury. The Buffalo offense was only able to muster 7 points off those turnovers.

Despite their efforts the Buffalo defense surrendered 439 yards of total offense by the Texans, including 126 yards rushing by Ryan Moats. Moats scored 3 fourth quarter touchdowns.

Also on the injury front for the Bills... Aaron Schobel left the game with a groin injury, Jamon Meredith with a knee sprain, and Keith Ellison with a quad injury.
