Buffalo, NY (WKBW) -- The Buffalo Sabres tell Eyewitness News in a release that a decision was made today regarding the fate of rookie defenseman Tyler Myers.
Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced Thursday that the 6' 8", 19-year old defenseman will remain with the Sabres for the "foreseeable future."
Myers is still eligible to be returned to his junior team, the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League, however by playing in his 10th game, his rookie contract will initiate.
As a 19-year old with junior eligibility left, Myers is not able to be assigned to the team's AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates.
Myers and the Sabres will take on the Toronto Maple Leafs Friday night at home.
