On the first day of NHL Free Agency, the Sabres signed rugged defenseman Steve Montador. The deal is for two-years and worth $3.1 million.
Channel 7 was the the first Buffalo station to talk to the newest Sabres defenseman.
"To be able to play for a competitive hockey club, and continuously competitive hockey club, in a good hockey market with passionate fans, all that good stuff is wonderful," said the 29-year-old Montador. "I like to consider myself a hard worker, a competitive player, someone who will compete every night. I'll stick up for my teammates."
Montador is a 7-year-veteran who is from the Toronto area. He says that played a part in his decision to come to Buffalo.
