JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Tyrone Lewis scored 18 points to lead
Niagara to a 62-55 win over St. Peter's on Friday night.
Bilal Benn added 11 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the
Purple Eagles (13-3, 4-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference),
while Benson Egemonye blocked a career-high seven shots. Nick Leon
had 25 points - including three 3-pointers - to lead the Peacocks
(4-11, 1-4), while Ryan Bacon added 18 points.
The teams traded baskets early on, but Niagara closed the first
half with a 21-8 run to take a 36-23 lead at the break. The Purple
Eagles then led by as many as 18 points in the second half before
the Peacocks rallied late and cut the lead to 60-55 on two free
throws by Wesley Jenkins with 3:52 left to play.
St. Peter's would not get any closer, though, as the Peacocks
missed four shots and Egemonye blocked two others in the closing
minutes.
