Orchard Park wins Class AA title

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Orchard Park scored all its points after
halftime to beat Monroe-Woodbury 21-17 and win its first New York
State Public High School Athletic Association Class AA championship
Sunday afternoon at the Carrier Dome.
Kyle Hoppy scored two touchdowns, including a 67-yard run with
six minutes left, to earn game MVP honors as Orchard Park (13-0)
from Section VI rallied from a 17-0 halftime deficit.
Senior quarterback Hoppy ran 16 times for 131 yards while
completing 6 of 14 passes for 58 yards.
Orchard Park senior Jeff Tundo, who ran for 146 yards on 26
carries, scored on a 21-yard run early in the second half. Hoppy
added a 14-yard run with 1:49 left in the third quarter to cut the
lead to 17-14.
Orchard Park halted last-ditch drives by Monroe-Woodbury (12-1)
with interceptions by seniors Brandon Nuessle with 2:21 left and
David Goltz with 43 seconds left.
