Southwestern High School wins Class C title

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Zack Sopak's two touchdown passes capped a
21-point blitz in 70 seconds by Southwestern High School as the
Trojans beat Croton-Harmon, 35-7 to win the New York State Public
High School Athletic Association Class C football championship on
Saturday.
Southwestern broke a scoreless tie late in the second quarter
with Sopak throwing TD passes to Levi Bursch and Andy Latta.
Between those strikes, Ryan Buzzetto returned a fumble 29 yards
for a score. John Volpe recovered a fumbled kickoff after
Buzzetto's TD as the Trojans - who led 21-0 at halftime on their
way to a 35-0 lead - won their first state title in any sport.
Sopak, who has been bothered by an injured right thumb the past
three weeks, completed 5-of-7 passes for 92 yards with an
interception. He also rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown on 12
carries.
Joe Tralli caught a 48-yard TD from Nick Mainiero for
Croton-Harmon, which finished with just 199 yards in offense while
the Trojans piled up 324.
