The Buffalo Sabres today announced they have signed goaltender Ryan Miller to a five-year contract extension. Miller, who will enter the final year of his contract this season, is now signed with the club through the 2013-2014 season.

Miller (7/17/80, 6’2”, 175lbs) appeared in a franchise-high 76 games last season, posting a record of 36-27-10 with a 2.64 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage. During the season, Miller made 34 consecutive starts from January 24-April 3 and a career-high three shutouts. Miller also earned his 100th career victory on February 10 against Florida.

Overall, Miller has appeared in 205 regular season games compiling a record of 112-68-19 with a career GAA of 2.69 and a .908 save percentage.

During the 2006-2007 season, Miller was named as a starter on the NHL Eastern Conference All-Star team. Miller also set a new franchise record for wins in a season with 40.

Miller was selected in the fifth round (138th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Among his personal achievements on the ice, Miller captured the Aldege “Baz” Bastien award in 2004-05 as the American Hockey League’s top goaltender, as well as top goalie honors in both the 2004 and 2005 AHL All-Star Game Skills competitions. While attending Michigan State, Miller also earned the 2001 Hobey Baker Award as the top player in college hockey.
