Syracuse Rolls Canisius

July 9, 2010 Updated Jul 8, 2010 at 2:29 PM EST

Canisius first ever trip to the NCAA Men's Lacrosse tournament came to a quick end Sunday, as the Griffs lost to third-seeded Syracuse, 20-3, at the Carrier Dome.

The high-powered Orange scored on each of their first three shots, and jumped out to an 8-0 lead before Adam Jones put the Griffs on the board. Grand Island native Michael Blocho scored twice as Canisius pulled to within 9-3 at the half. But the second half was all SU, as the nine-time national champs shut out the Griffs. Syracuse will take on Notre Dame in the second round, while Canisius season ends with a final record of 10-6.

The college will still be represented in NCAA tournament action, however, as the Griffs won their second straight MAAC championship, 8-0 over Marist Sunday. They'll face 7th-seeded Arizona in the first round Friday in Hempstead, NY
