Roger E. Martin, age 70, of Sheppard Rd. Hermitage, died peacefully, Monday November 2nd 2009 at the Livingston Co. Center for Nursing and Rehab.
He was born in Holland, New York, March 17th 1939, the son of the late Ralph E. and Dorothy E. Anderson Martin. Roger was a lifetime resident of Wyoming County. He retired from his own dairy farm in 1974 and went to work as a truck driver for Red Arrow Trucking in Arcade which later became Pioneer Transport where he retired from in 1997. He was active for many years with the Gainesville Fire Department.
Roger loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was known by all as a practical joker and the life of any party. He enjoyed fishing, camping, collecting coins, playing cards and bee keeping. Roger was a very fun-loving father and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by a brother David and two sisters; Virginia Martin and Judy Hall. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty years Carol Dominessy Martin of Warsaw, a son; Kevin A. Martin of Chaffee, two daughters; Anne (Kenneth) Cornell of Schuylerville, NY, and Darla (Brian) Hare of Warsaw, 2 sisters; Donna Williams of Waverly Hall, GA, and Jean (Gene) Librock of Eustice, Florida, 5 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends of Roger E. Martin may call on Thursday, November 5th at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 6th at 2pm with Pastor Ron Brown of New Beginnings Church in Hermitage as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Lyonsburg Cemetery in Bliss. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. of WNY at 2805 Wehrle DR. Ste 6 Williamsville, NY 14221 or Livingston Co.
