Gary A Gath, Age 72, on October 29, 2009, at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane from complications due to pulmonary fibrosis.

Formerly of Tonawanda NY, Gary moved to Wilson in 1990 after serving 31 years on the Tonawanda Fire Dept, and 26 consecutive years as Union president, retiring as captain. Beloved son of the late Arnold C and Florence Wattengel Gath, husband of the late Thomasine Monaghan Miller, stepfather of the late Joan (Ronald) Jenkins, David (Suzanne) Miller, Debra (Robert) Pannell, Robin (Tim) Blevins, and Lori Reynolds, step grandfather to 10. Dearest friend of Judith Trinkwalder Gerlach, Donald Burns, and the late Gene Bowers.

He was also employed by NOCO and Midwest Transport. Gary has been president of the Queen City Jass Society for 10 years, Chairman of the BFDFederal Credit Union for 20 years, a lifetime member of the BPO Elks #860, and an assistant to the Directors of TGIRJFestival in Alexandria Bay NY. Gary will be sadly missed by all who knew him for his ragtime piano playing, love of firefighting and dirty manhattans, and the merriment he created everywhere.

Friends may call on Sunday, 12-4 , Monday 2-4 and 7-9 at the Wattengel Funeral Home, 307 Oliver St, N Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 AM, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Scott and William St, Tonawanda. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery with a New Orleans In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Queen City Jass Society, PO Box 882, Grand Island, NY 14072.
